“It is rare to come across a set where the quality of the barristers is matched by the quality of the clerks, but that is absolutely the case at Fountain Court.”
Legal 500
The clerking team is led by Alex Taylor who is widely recognised as one of the best in the industry, with Sian Huckett as Deputy Senior Clerk.
Our clerks and junior clerks work closely with our business development and marketing team, and are highly regarded by clients for various reasons – their commercial approach, their responsiveness, their approachability and their excellent service being some examples. Read more about the recognition of our clerks here.
Our experienced and award nominated business development and marketing team is responsible for all client development, business development and marketing activities.
Working closely with our clerking team, they plan and oversee the execution of various initiatives including in relation to our sophisticated client programmes and practice area focused business planning, as well as in relation to our social media presence and events management.
The roles performed within our highly respected administration or ‘business support’ team, led by Julie Parker, include finance; insurance; IT services; HR, equality, diversity and inclusion; recruitment; maintenance of our historic buildings; reception; catering; security and procurement.
Our experienced team provides a smooth and efficient service meaning that clients and barristers can enjoy access to first class facilities. As a leading set we believe in providing the best possible quality of service all round.
We are committed to creating an inclusive culture and addressing any inequality in all aspects of our business. We encourage applications from individuals from all communities for our work experience opportunities directed at Year 12 and Year 13 students. Our intention in limiting the programme to these two year groups alone is to create a recruitment pipeline to the support services for Chambers. If you are keen to explore a career as a barrister, we encourage you to seek mini-pupillage and pupillage opportunities at a slightly later stage in your education.
We are an equal opportunities employer and are keen to receive applications from under-represented groups.
Students will have the opportunity to experience a range of roles within our clerking and administration teams (comprising business development and marketing, finance and IT). Candidates do not need to know anything about the law or how a barristers’ chambers operates – we will provide you with that opportunity.
We will re-open applications for 2026 placements at the beginning of January 2026 and look forward to hearing from you then.

We welcome and encourage applications from candidates from the full range of backgrounds, particularly those which are underrepresented within commercial sets of chambers.
